Sharp and Foxconn Collaborate on EVs

Sharp and Foxconn have introduced the LDK+ electric vehicle concept at Sharp Tech-Day 2024, held at the Tokyo International Forum this week. This concept model was developed in collaboration with Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn) using an open EV platform, with additional support from Folofly Corporation.

The LDK+ is designed to function as both a vehicle and a stationary living space, focusing on comfort when the vehicle is parked. Sharp’s AI technology, CE-LLM, along with AIoT and sensing technologies, enables the vehicle to connect with living spaces, people, and energy systems. The vehicle includes rotatable rear seats, and when the doors close, liquid crystal shutters on the side windows create a private interior. Based on AI learning from home appliances, the system automatically adjusts air conditioning and lighting preferences.

The car is also equipped with a 65-inch LCD display at the rear, designed for various uses including an immersive theater, children’s play area, or remote work. The LDK+ is integrated with a storage battery and solar panels, allowing it to be connected to a home’s energy system for optimized energy management. In case of a power outage, the stored energy in the EV can be used within the home.
