The Galaxy A7 (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 44), a thin smartphone challenging the iPhone 6, has been revealed by Samsung.
Featuring a metal body and 5.5″ AMOLED display, the phone will be available in both single- and dual-SIM versions. The former will be based on a Samsung Exynos 5 chip, while the latter will use a Snapdragon 615. Both are quad-core devices using a Big.Little configuration, ranging from 1GHz to 1.8GHz variants.
At 141g and 6.3mm thick, the Galaxy A7 is a lightweight model for its size. It runs Android 4.4 and features 4G connectivity.
The original specification sheet for the smartphone listed an HD (1280 x 720) display, but it has now been confirmed that the A7 has 1920 x 1080 resolution.
A release and price were unavailable, with Samsung simply saying that the A7 will arrive in Q1.
