Samsung has announced the global launch of its 2024 lineup of Odyssey OLED gaming monitors, Smart Monitors, and ViewFinity monitors, introducing new features and AI capabilities.
The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 (model G80SD), initially introduced in January, now includes safeguards against OLED burn-in and AI-powered resolution upscaling. Priced at $1,299.99, it is more affordable than Samsung’s previous OLED gaming monitor. The G80SD model is Samsung’s first AI-powered gaming monitor, equipped with the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, enabling near-4K upscaling for content and games through the monitor’s smart TV apps and Gaming Hub.
The updated Odyssey OLED G8 features a new cooling system with a proprietary pulsating heat pipe, improving heat diffusion by five times compared to the previous graphite sheet method. The monitor also automatically reduces the brightness of static images to prevent burn-in. Key specifications include a flat display, 3840 x 2160 resolution, 240Hz refresh rate, 16:9 aspect ratio, 250 nits peak brightness, and support for FreeSync Premium Pro to reduce screen lag and tearing.
The Smart Monitor lineup has been updated to enhance multi-device experiences, featuring the M8 (M80D model), M7 (M70D model), and M5 (M50D model). The 32-inch 4K UHD M8 model now includes AI-powered upscaling and Active Voice Amplifier Pro for clearer audio. It also features 360 Audio Mode, a built-in SlimFit Camera for video calls, and a new Workout Tracker that pairs with Galaxy Watch for real-time health data.
The ViewFinity series, optimized for professionals, includes the S8, S7, and S6 models, with sustainable design elements such as recycled plastic and easy-to-disassemble packaging. The ViewFinity S8 offers 27-inch and 32-inch options with 4K UHD resolution, HDR10 support, and a USB-C port for device charging. The S7 and S6 models provide a range of sizes and resolutions.
