Samsung and LG have signed agreements with Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) to pay approximately $19 million to settle a cartel investigation involving the Brazilian LCD market. The two companies had been under investigation in Brazil since 2008 for alleged price-fixing practices, as part of the wider global investigations into the LCD cartel operating between 2001 and 2006. LG’s share of the fine was around $15 million, with Samsung paying more than $3.9 million.
