Samsung launches LED installation service for The Wall

What They Say

Invidis reports that Samsung is introducing a full back-up service for its sales channels for its LED ‘The Wall for Business’ products. The range of services includes site analysis, installation and commissioning by trained employees.

The Samsung Blue Glove Installation Service comes standard with:

  • A site analysis: A site assessment must be carried out prior to installation. This is for planning security and preparation.
  • Installation and commissioning: Samsung carries out the installation and readjustment of the MicroLED cabinets – including mounting on the Samsung Frame Kit wall bracket and configuring the S-Box to play out content via different channels.
  • Verification after installation: Samsung verifies the functionality of the display to ensure smooth operation.

The service has been introduced as there is still a lack of integrators and partners that can successfully deal with the modular construction and specialist skills of alignment etc needed for LED walls. This becomes critical when LEDs are expensive and often in prestigious sites where a lack of a quality installation is not acceptable. That is in comparison to the relatively simple installation of LCD video walls.

There’s a substantial video from Invidis in German here.

What We Think

This is a smart move by Samsung although specialists in LED installation might not agree! LEDs can be challenging. I’m on a mailing list that recently sent me a long list of precautions that need to be taken if LED modules had been in storage anywhere that might be damp. The procedures and processes were not difficult but there were a lot of them and, presumably, they were there for a good reason. Dealing with expensive equipment that might be prone to damage is not attractive to integrators that are likely to want to ‘stick to what they know’.

It’s not clear if this is just a service in Germany, but we’ll reach out to Samsung to check.

Update – Samsung got back to us very quickly to confirm that this is offered where the appropriate skills are available – for example, also in the UK and is officially known as the “Blu Glove” service. (BR)
