Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Becomes First Trade Agreements Act (TAA)-Compliant Tablet to Achieve USAF Flight Line Certification

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. andIntelligent Decisions (ID), Inc., a premier global IT systems integrator, announced today the award of a new U.S. Air Force (USAF) contract for the delivery of Samsung Galaxy TAB S2s to U.S. bases worldwide. In addition to being the first tablet computer to achieve Trade Agreements Act (TAA) certification, the Galaxy Tab S2 was certified by the USAF for flight line use after successfully passing a number of rigorous hardware tests and strict software standards.

In order to be certified for the e-Tools program, the USAF subjected the Galaxy Tab S2 to multiple decompression, atmosphere and temperature tests. In addition to being used inflight, the Galaxy Tab S2 tablets will provide the U.S. Air Force with significant cost savings by reducing the number of ruggedized laptops that were originally required to access over 2,000 technical orders that enable maintenance personnel to launch, recover and maintain aircraft assets.

“Intelligent Decisions has maintained a long partnership with the United States Air Force in supporting their missions needs through several AirForce prime contracts,” said Joe Armstrong, president and CFO of Intelligent Decisions. “Samsung is a premiere partner to Intelligent Decisions by delivering superior products and unparalleled service delivery standards to our customers mission needs.”

For USAF technicians, the Galaxy Tab S2 provides a single point of access to digitized technical orders, manuals and parts databases to streamline maintenance operations and troubleshoot aircraft repairs. Additionally, USAF technicians can use the Galaxy Tab S2 to deliver paperless technical orders, process real-time maintenance data collection and securely access to Air Force Enhanced Technical Information Management System (ETIMS) portal.

“Security is paramount to government agencies and the Galaxy Tab S2 was engineered with the needs of the U.S. Air Force in mind, from meeting strict security and network compatibility requirements with our defense-grade Samsung KNOX platform to durability, quality and TAA-compliance,” said John Curtis, vice president of sales, Samsung Electronics America. “We’re proud to partner with Intelligent Decisions to provide innovative technology to the U.S. Air Force’s flight line technicians.”

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 TAA tablet will be included in the USAF e-Tools program effective immediately. The e-Tools catalog of systems is available through AFWAY, a Web-based Air Force system for purchasing IT that provides a one-stop resource where Air Force customers can quickly learn about an array of products and services.
