Samsung has announced new Odyssey OLED gaming monitors to be introduced at CES 2024 next week. The lineup includes three models: the Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD), Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SD), and Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SD).
The Odyssey OLED G9 stands out with its 49-inch curved ultra-wide screen, boasting a Dual Quad High-Definition (DQHD) resolution of 5120×1440 and a 32:9 aspect ratio. It’s designed for immersive gaming experiences. On the other hand, the Odyssey OLED G8 introduces a new flat 32-inch display to Samsung’s OLED gaming monitor range. It offers 4K Ultra-High Definition (UHD) resolution (3840×2160) and a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. Both these models feature a high 240Hz refresh rate and a rapid 0.03ms grey-to-grey (GTG) response time. The third model, the Odyssey OLED G6, is a 27-inch monitor with a Quad High-Definition (QHD) resolution of 2560×1440. It supports a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 360Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms GTG response time, catering to gamers seeking speed and precision.
In terms of smart features, the Odyssey OLED G9 and G8 models introduce Multi Control for seamless connectivity with compatible Samsung devices, facilitating easier transfer of images and text. They also incorporate the Samsung SmartThings Hub, allowing control over various Internet of Things (IoT) devices compatible with Matter and the Home Connectivity Alliance (HCA). When not used for gaming, these monitors double as all-in-one entertainment hubs, offering access to streaming and cloud gaming services through the Samsung Smart TV platform and Samsung Gaming Hub.
The design of the new Odyssey OLED G8 and G6 is sleek, with a slim metal build and Core Lighting+ in the slim bezel, providing ambient light for an immersive experience. The new slim metal stand is tool-free and harmonizes with the display design, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality.
