According to Korea’s ET News, Samsung Display is on the verge of launching the world’s fastest OLED panel. The company is in the final stages of developing a 500Hz OLED panel, setting a new industry standard for refresh rates.
The new 27-inch QD-OLED panel, featuring QHD (2560×1440) resolution, surpasses the current commercial OLED record of 480Hz, which was achieved by LG Display in August.
According to the publications’s industry sources, Samsung Display is currently in discussions with major monitor manufacturers for commercialization, with plans to launch products incorporating the new panel in the first half of next year. The panel is expected to be primarily utilized in gaming monitors, where high refresh rates are particularly valued, and may be on show at CES 2025 in Las Vegas in January, 2025.
While some LCD panels have achieved 500Hz refresh rates, they were limited to FHD (1920×1080) resolution.
