Samsung Denies OLED Rumours, Considers G10

There have been rumours in recent months that Samsung was preparing to re-enter the OLED TV market (IHS: Samsung Looking at a Change in its OLED TV Plans?). However, Samsung Display executive Lee Chang-hoon, speaking in the company’s quarterly earnings call, has confirmed that the company has no plans to pursue OLED TVs at this time.

Lee also said that SDC is considering investing in a G10 LCD line, to deal with demand for large UltraHD TVs. To date the only G10 fab is the Sakai facility co-owned by Sharp and Hon Hai, although we report elsewhere in this issue on plans in China.
