Samsung has said that its Gear VR headset was sold out ‘hours’ after it was launched in the USA and Europe on the 20th November at its price of $99. Samsung said, “We are delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response”.
Analyst Comment
We saw a review in the NYT, which recently gave away “Cardboard” display holders, and it was quite critical of the Gear VR and the ergonomics, although it suggested it might be worth giving as a present to an owner of a recent Samsung phone. I have been playing with Cardboard on my Galaxy S4, but have found that very quickly, the intensive processing makes the phone very hot and the experience is not great, although young members of my family enjoyed it a lot.
