Industry sources in Taiwan have reported that Samsung will produce a 75″ microLED TV with a panel constructed using 30 × 50-micron microLED chips from PlayNitride. The TV is scheduled for release in 2019, the sources added.
PlayNitride will issue new shares for existing shareholder Samsung to purchase, increasing its stake in the company by 30%, the sources also said, adding that the company will soon attempt to reduce its chip sizes by 2.5 × 2.5 microns and has delivered samples of 15 × 30-micron microLEDs to its clients.
Analyst Comment
Samsung said to us earlier this ‘just wait until you see what we have in LCD at CES!”, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see something like this.
