Dataxis predicts that the major SAARC countries (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka) plus Myanmar will see their pay TV market doubled by 2021, to reach $16 billion compared to just $8 billion last year. Together, these countries represent almost 25% of the world population.
India is by far the biggest pay TV market and accounts for 80% of the region’s pay-TV revenues and will have 215 million subscribers in 2021, compared to 177 million last year.
Dataxis predicts that Bangladesh and Myanmar will have the highest growth in pay-TV revenues, with other countries having double-digit growth.
The total number of pay-TV subscriber is predicted to reach 270 million in 2021 compared to 210 million last year
