Ahead of IFA, Samsung has announced a new smartwatch called the Gear S, with a curved, 2″ OLED screen. It is very likely the smartwatch that was previously rumoured to be called the Gear Solo (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 15), as it features a cellular radio to connect to the internet and make and receive calls. The watch runs Samsung’s Tizen OS (1GHz processor) and can connect to a smartphone via Bluetooth, if needed. The watch will be launched in Europe in October.
