A survey by Context has shown that VR is a category ‘for retailers to lose’, in Europe. The survey showed that most consumers (26.3%) and gamers (23.2%) would prefer to buy VR HMDs at specialist technology retailers. 16.1% of consumers and 20.3% of gamers would buy from Amazon. 16.3% of consumers said that they would then turn to a different online retailer, while 15.5% of gamers would visit a mass-market store like a supermarket.
