FlatPanelsHD reports that Samsung’s Q8 LCD quantum-dot TV with full array local dimming (FALD) — previously believed to be exclusive to the US — will be coming to Europe after all, scheduled for a July release.
The publication has also said that the Q8DN, Europe’s answer to the FALD model, will be available in 55″, 65″ and 75″ sizes. The Q8 series supports Ultra HD resolution, HDR10+ and HLG, with peak brightness of 1,500 cd/m². FlatPanelsHD’s sources revealed that the decision was inspired by the European consumer reaction to the news that the FALD model wasn’t coming to the region, which included a Change.org petition.
Current Q8 models available in Europe feature edge-lighting and come with an external OneConnect box, which allows users to connect all their devices to the TV using one cable and avoid having lots of wires visible around the back of their TV. The publication says that the Q8DN won’t come with the box add-on.
