Bloomberg reports that Apple has secured an additional supplier of OLED panels for its forthcoming iPhone range. Citing people familiar with the matter, the article states that Apple is forging a partnership with LG for the supply of between two and four million OLED panels.
Until now, Samsung has been Apple’s sole supplier of panels. The company is attempting to diversify the sources of its OLED panel supplies in order to give it more bargaining power with Samsung, with a view to reducing production costs for OLED iPhone models.
Three iPhones are believed to be launching later this year — 5.9″ and 6.5″ OLED models and a 6.1″ LCD version.
