Panasonic’s Toughbook CF-MX4 is a convertible PC, with a robust design for business users.
The Toughbook has been tested in 0.75m drop tests and 100kg force vibration tests. It will last for 13 hours on its battery, which is removable and hot-swappable. There’s a magnesium alloy chassis and the notebook is 21mm thick and the device weighs 1.1kg. Panasonic supplies the product with a three year warranty.
A thin nib stylus is bundled, to take handwritten notes and enabling precise control of the display (which also supports 10-point finger touch). The unit connects to WiFi, but 4G support is optional.
The 12.5″ display uses an IPS panel, with 1920 x 1080 resolution and 178° viewing angles. Windows 8.1 (optional Windows 7) runs on a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5 processor with 4GB of RAm and Intel HD Graphics 5500. A 256GB SSD provides storage.
HDMI, VGA, USB 3.0 (x2) and RJ45 ports are featured. Panasonic is selling the hybrid now, for €2,035 ex VAT.
