Semiconductor maker Renesas Electronics Corp. recorded Q1 net profits which rose 9% to ¥29.9 billion ($240 million) from ¥21.2 billion ($170 million) in the same quarter last time on revenue of ¥179.3 billion ($1.4 billion), down 14% from ¥209.3 billion ($1.7 billion) a year ago. The company said that profitability increased because of reduced fixed costs and an improved product mix.
