Radiant Opto-Electronics saw sales drop 28.5% year on year in December to NT$4.8 billion ($151.6 million), taking sales for the year to NT$51.4 billion ($1.6 billion), 19% lower than 2013.
Shipments of BLUs for LCD monitors increased 41.3% sequentially in December to 479,000 units, while for TV use, shipments were almost 30% higher at 35,000 units. The company said it is seeing steady shipments of BLU’s for Xiaomi’s 49″ TVs and also expects orders for 55″ units to increase early this year.
The company expects orders for BLUs used in 4.7″ smartphones to remain steady this year, despite an expected overall slowdown in January and February.
