Quanta Computer reported its highest monthly sales for 2014 in December of NT$88.8 billion ($2.8 billion), increasing almost 10% from November but 6% down on December 2013.
December’s result brought sales for the fourth quarter to NT$251.6 billion ($7.9 billion), 3% higher sequentially but a drop of 7.3% year on year, while sales for the whole of 2014 improved 5.2% to NT$926.3 billion ($29.1 billion).
Quanta shipped 4.2 million notebooks in December, down 10.6% month on month, taking shipments in Q4 to 12.8 million units, down 6.6% from the third quarter. However, Quanta’s notebook shipments for the year increased 12.5% from 2013, reaching 48.5 million. A spokesman for the company was quoted as saying that the increase in sales for December was mostly attributed to demand for higher-priced notebook models, which is why the increase was not also reflected in shipments.
