At Siggraph 2015, Qualcomm introduced its next-generation GPUs and camera image signal processors (ISPs).
The Adreno 5xx GPU series will premiere with the Adreno 530 in the upcoming Snapdragon 820 processor, and the Adreno 510 in the Snapdragon 620 and 618. Qualcomm says that the Adreno 530 is designed to improve graphics performance by up to 40%, compared to the Adreno 430. Power consumption is also lowered by 40%.
A new Spectra camera ISP was also discussed. It is a dual-ISP, designed to provide superior image quality. The ISP supports 14-bit sensors, a hybrid autofocus framework and multi-sensor fusion algorithms.
Devices with the Snapdragon 820 are expected to be released in the first half of next year.
