Since the beginning of 2018, a new digital signage network has been rolling out across German branches of Tipico, an international provider of sports betting and casino games, in collaboration with Turkish electronics company Vestel, its sister company Vestek and Austrian integrator GH Media.
So far, the new equipment has been rolled out to more than 80 of the company’s 1,100 Germany branches. Over 2,500 Vestel large-format displays have been installed so far, in sizes up to 98″.
On average, each branch contains around 30 screens which are used to display multiple inputs — e.g., showing live streams of sporting events alongside real-time data such as betting odds. Receivers are integrated directly into the screens, so no additional media players are required.
Interestingly, in certain parts of Germany, the taxation of sports betting offices is directly linked to the number of screens installed. Therefore, Tipico has opted for large-format displays rather than video walls made up of smaller screens.
GH Media’s 8x HDMI 1x IPTV OUT Broadcast Encoder transmits signals via UDP streaming over the local network, with content feeds controllable directly from front-of-house computer systems.
