PMA Research (PMA),the worldwide market information experts on large displays, has publishedtheir latest set of monthly sell-through tracking reports on large-format(32″ and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading U.S. AV/ITDistributors and Pro AV dealers and integrators who serve commercial markets.
In the AV/IT Distribution channel, PMA’s August sell-through tracking report
showed that unit sales of touch-enabled models grew 40% from July. Sales of
models warranted for use 24/7 — which now represent about one third of the
total sales volume — rose by 21% month over month. In addition, sales of
60″-69″ models jumped 31% in August. These segments helped to fuel solid
growth for sales of professional displays which rose sequentially by 15% in
volume and 12% in revenues in August and cemented the upward trend for
year-over-year growth.
Samsung and NEC were the two best-selling brands in the Distribution channel
in August, with combined sales accounting for more than 60% of the total
sales in the channel according our sample.
In the Pro AV Channel, August unit sales and revenues of large-format
displays also saw positive double-digit growth. Unit sales in August were up
15% vs. July 2016 and revenues in August were up 25% from July. On a
year-on-year basis, unit sales grew by 22% and revenues ran 43% ahead of
August 2015. The revenue growth is directly related to the growth in +90″
sales where unit volume doubled Y/Y. For the same time-frame, revenues
nearly tripled on strong sales of Sharp’s LC-90LE657U and PN-R903 as well as
NEC’s E905.
