A patent filed by Apple back during the second quarter of 2018 has surfaced, lending credence to recent reports that the Apple Watch Series 4 will feature a curved edge-to-edge OLED display. An additional patent details an anti-burn-in solution for OLED displays, saying, “The display may include full-strength pixels and may have a band of antialiasing pixels having selectively reduced strengths relative to the full-strength pixels”.
Last week, 9to5 Mac posted an image online said to be of the new smartwatch, showing a curved edge-to-edge display, 15% larger than previous iterations of the Apple Watch.
It is widely rumoured that the Apple Watch Series 4 will be officially unveiled alongside a trio of new iPhone models at Apple’s 2018 launch event on September 12th.
