Panasonic Stops Making TVs in China, Mexico

Panasonic is reported to have stopped manufacturing TVs at its plant in Mexico and is also about to liquidate its joint venture TV plant in Shandong, China. The company is expected to scale back its overseas production by 700,000 units a year, which is approximately 10% of its global output, leaving only three TV factories in operation, in Japan, Malaysia and the Czech Republic.

According to reports, Panasonic expects to sell approximately seven million TVs worldwide this year, excluding sets produced under the Sanyo brand.
