A firmware update to Epson’s Powerlite Pro Cinema projectors has upgraded the image quality on several models. The 6030UB, 4030, 5030UB and 5030UBE now feature Epson’s Detail Enhancement technology. Detail Enhancement is designed to make the texture and surface appearance of objects more real.
A new build of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Technical Preview has added several new features, including a notification-like Action Centre and an animation for toggling virtual desktops. Perhaps the most interesting addition, though, is a new keyboard shortcut (Windows key + Shift + direction arrow) that will move apps between displays.
Supply chain sources have said that TV vendors are aiming to ship 34 million UltraHD TVs next year – up 120% from 2014. The largest market will be China (no surprises there – TA) and demand will continue to climb for 50″+ sizes.

The UK’s free satellite TV service, Freesat, was available to 1.9 million households at the end of September. 8,000 new subscribers were added in Q3, and 32,000 in the first 9 months of 2014.

Micahel Probst, director of the EU-supported Hbb-Next project, has said that HbbTV 2.0 will “hopefully” be released this year. V2.0 will also include four new features contributed by Probst’s group, including synchronised video content across devices and control of TVs using face- and gesture-recognition.
