Following the launch of its own-brand smart TV, John Lewis says that sales in its electricals and home technology (EHT) business grew 11.7% year on year in the first half of this year. The company’s overall turnover for the period improved 9.4%, with like-for-like sales up 8.2%.
In the UK, Midwich is now offering a new British TV manufacturer, Linsar, to its consumer TV portfolio. Linsar is an independent company which was established in 2006, producing TVs ranging from 51cm to 27cm using direct LED and edge lit LED technology. The TV models are offered with a five year warranty.

A new quad-core SoC, supporting UltraHD, has been developed by Marvell. The Armada 1500 Pro 4K (88DE3214) uses an ARM CPU and a ‘multi-core’ 3D graphics processor. UltraHD content can be played at 60fps, using HEVC decoding. The SoC is intended for Smart TV and STB applications. SDKs include both Android and RDK.
At Intel’s developer forum (IDF), the company said that it is working to drive processes down to 7nm, without advances in lithography.
