Quanta Computer says it is to end its research and development partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) this year, after 10 years of co-operation. The switch to digital broadcasting is on track in South Africa. The Minister of Communications has planned a consultation with the Cabinet, about the planned date to launch the country’s DTT platform. Orders for DTT STBs will be placed before the end of the month.
Thomson Broadcast, Sagemcom and Canal+ are seeking to build and manage DTT platforms in several African countries. These countries include the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Benin and Cameroon. The companies have already received a contract to deploy the DTT platform in Cape Verde.
