JVC is part of the trend to move from lamp-based projectors to solid-state projectors – those using LEDs or laser-phosphor light sources. At I/ITSEC 2015, JVC explained their laser phosphor technology and benefits for the simulation market.
Christie’s new Accuframe Pro allows a 120 fps refresh rate with minimal motion blur using a 60 fps input and without loss of brightness using a black frame insertion technique.
JVC and Boeing have been working on e-shift technology for the simulation market for a few years. At I/ITSEC 2015, they showed for the first time, a prototype 8K resolution e-shift projector that uses a laser phosphor light source.
Boeing does a nice job of explaining how they built up a very complex synthetic database for flight simulators using multiple inputs and layers.
