ABI Research has predicted that the global pay-TV market will only experience a 3.7% CAGR through 2020. OTT video, however, is expected to see 26% revenue growth this year alone, with a 24% CAGR through 2019. Customers are beginning to demand a similar experience to OTT from pay-TV services, such as search, recommendations and mobile device support. ABI recommends the roll-out of new IPTV-capable STBs to combat OTT competition.
