Osram Lighting Solutions has received the International Solid State Lighting Alliance‘s Global SSL Showcase Top 100 Award, for the Zhuhai Grand Theater’s LED media facade.
The win marks the third occasion that Osram has received this particular prize. The company previously won for the lighting of the Sistine Chapel in 2015 and again for the Wuhan – Two Rivers, Four Shores project in 2016.
On the Zhuhai project, individually-controlled, coloured Traxon Dot-XL 9 RGB LEDs with a total of 51,000 pixels were installed behind the perforated aluminum facade on both sides, while content programming and playback is handled via an E:cue control unit. The animated content displayed on the theatre depicts the history of Zhuhai and can be adapted at any time to coincide with seasonal events and celebrations.

We nearly didn’t report this as ‘lighting’, but this project blurs the edges between that category and displays! As the display has 51K pixels, in the end it made the cut! (BR)
