OLED Costs Dip Below LCD for HD

IHS Markit has been quoted as saying that the production cost differences between OLEDs and LCDs for the popular 5.5″ HD configuration have reduced to the point where OLEDs (at $12.1) are now cheaper than LCDs ($12.2), although the difference increases for higher resolution displays and the costs for OLEDs could be 30% higher than for LCDs.

Digitimes Research has forecast that Chinese OLED makers will increase their capacity from 272,000 m² in 2016 to 1.584 million m² in 2018.
