Micromax Canvas Hue smartphone

Consumers in India, who might struggle to afford Samsung’s AMOLED smartphones, are now being offered a lower-cost option in the form of Micromax‘s Canvas Hue. The 5″ device has an AMOLED display (1280 x 720), 1.3GHz quad-core CPU and 1GB of RAM. The 3,000mAh battery should also prove robust. The phone will be available in India this month, for INR9,600 ($155) ex VAT.

A 64GB version of Motorola’s flagship Moto X smartphone is now available, for $600.

MSI‘s 15.6″ GE62 laptop takes on industrial design elements from last year’s GT72. Compared to previous GE models, the display section and cover of the laptop are now thicker and the hinges have been retooled to improve build quality. Dual cooling fans have also been installed. Internals have not been confirmed yet, but a version seen by Anandtech uses a Core i7 Haswell processor and – well done, MSI! – an IPS panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution. An upcoming GE-series model, the GE72, will be a step up, with a larger screen and chassis.

Nintendo has set US and EU release dates for the New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL handheld consoles. Compared to the previous model, the new version adds more stable 3D via face-tracking technology, built-in NFC functionality and new control methods. The screens have also been increased in size, to 3.83″ (top) and 3.33″ (bottom). The consoles will be released on 13th February, with the 3DS XL costing $200. A price for the New 3DS has not yet been announced.
