Japanese LED chipmaker Nichia — the owner of key patents for blue LEDs — announced it has completed its miniLED development process and will soon commence mass production of mini LED products, according to LEDinside.
Samples for miniLED backlighting applications have apparently been delivered to Nichia’s clients and the finished product is scheduled for release during the fourth quarter of the year.
The company also weighed in on its microLED development process, saying it is “ongoing”. Full-scale production of microLED technology is currently scheduled for 2022.
