NHK will show its latest developments in Super Hi-Vision (8k) transmission at its Science & Technology Research Labs open days (28th – 31st May). Content will be sent to the location of the event using NHK’s BSAT-1 satellite; a compression system will shrink the 72Gbps stream to 85Mbps for broadcast, using HEVC encoding and the MPEG Media Transport standard.
