New patents for a potential future iteration of Samsung’s Gear smartwatch indicate that the device’s battery could be manufactured in a flexible material and moved into the strap.
Not only does this mean that larger, multiple batteries could be used, improving battery life, it also means that space within the body of the smartwatch itself could be freed up to make way for a larger processor, additional memory modules or other hardware improvements.
An additional patent showed a small display in the device’s rotating bezel, which looks as though it could be used to access short-cuts to the device’s most-used features.
