Chinese smartwatch manufacturer Mobvoi will abandon its proprietary Ticwatch OS in favour of Android Wear 2.0.
The forthcoming Ticwatch S and E will run Google’s second-generation smartwatch operating system in response to consumer feedback that Ticwatch OS lacked in certain areas, such as app availability.
The new models will both feature a 1.4 inch 400 x 400 OLED touchscreen display, an MTK MT2601, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, IP67 water-proofing and a 48-hour battery life.
The new Ticwatch is still in the Kickstarter phase, where it has already raised more than ten times its initial goal, with a month left to go. Early backers can pick up a new smartwatch for 30% off the retail price.
Tipped for a Q4 launch, the Ticwatch S will retail for $199, while the E model will come in cheaper at $159.
