NEC had an interesting desktop monitor, designed for multi-display set-ups. It is called the Multisync EX241UN, and will be launched in October.
The display has edge-to-edge glass and a frameless design. The outer bezel, although thin, is simply made of a flexible plastic. It does not contain any electronics (they are in the inner bezel, behind the glass) and is only there for protection. Users can peel the outer bezel away from the display to make the gap between monitors even smaller.
Display resolution is 1920 x 1080, with 250 cd/m² of brightness. The screen is 24″ and can be operated 12/7.
Another monitor, also 24″, was the Multisync EA24SWMi. Unlike the EX241UN, this model has narrow bezels on three sides, instead of four; the electronics are in the bottom bezel. The screen can still be used in a two-unit high video wall, by rotating one monitor 180° and placing them top-to-top. Uniformity correction, NEC’s TileMatrix software and a DisplayPort output, for daisy-chaining, are built in.
NEC will launch the EA24SWMi in September. It has 300 cd/m² of brightness, 1920 x 1200 resolution and can be operated 12/7. The screen also features a low blue light mode and flicker-free backlight.
There was little projector news; only one new unit, the PX803UL, was on show, but we have covered it several times (NEC Shows New Laser-Phosphor Projectors and NEC Maintains Constant Brightness).
