National Arts Centre Unveils Kipnes Lantern LED Display

On New Year’s Eve, the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada switched on the Kipnes Lantern, a 50′ (15.2m) high, four-sided transparent mesh LED display that fills the windows of the newly-renovated building. It is believed to be the largest transparent LED screen in North America.

Created as a collaboration between Moment Factory and ClearLED, the screens are translucent when switched off, allowing a view into the building from outside.

This video from ClearLED chronicles the journey of the Kipnes Lantern, from concept to construction.
