Microsoft Goes to Rock- Bottom Price on First Lumia

The first smartphone with ‘Microsoft Lumia’ branding has been revealed. The Lumia 535 sports mid-range specifications but an aggressive price: it will cost just €110 ex VAT, when it is launched this month (a price in euros was provided, despite the phone not scheduled to launch in the region until Q1’15 – China and Bangladesh will be the first markets to receive the handset).

As rumoured, the 535 will be a dual-SIM device, with micro-SD support – necessary, as storage is only 8GB (although there is also 15GB of free Onedrive storage). The phone runs Windows 8.1, with Cortana, on a quadcore 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor with 1GB of RAM.

The 535 has a 5″ display with 960 x 540 resolution, using an IPS panel and protected by Gorilla Glass 3. An ambient light sensor is built in.
