Microchip Technology has introduced two touchscreen controller families, ATMXT3072M1 and ATMXT2496M1, for automotive applications. The maXTouch controllers target vehicle displays up to 20 inches in 16:9 format and 34 inches in 7:1 format.

The controllers support 112 touch channels, with capability for 162 channels in ultra-wide mode. They incorporate Microchip’s Smart Mutual touch acquisition method, which increases touch signal-to-noise ratio by 15 dB compared to previous versions.
The devices include haptic control features and Knob-on-Display technology for physical control integration. They meet ASIL-A and ASIL-B automotive safety requirements and are developed under ISO26262 standards with TÜV Rheinland certification.
For security, the controllers use SHA-512 hash function for firmware authentication, enabling over-the-air updates in compliance with ISO 21434:2021 standards.
The controllers work with OLED and MicroLED displays. Microchip provides development tools including the EV01S50A PCB for ATMXT3072M1 and EV13B92A evaluation kit with a 15.6-inch ITO touch sensor.
