China-based mobile internet company Meitu has announced a limited edition of its V6 smartphone, a joint project with The British Museum, at the British House in Beijing. The V6 features a 5.49″ 1080p AMOLED screen, as well as a 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel internal camera, both with optical image stabilisation and AI beautification technology. It’s powered by a MediaTek Helio X27 processor and includes 4GB RAM, plus the option of 64GB or 128GB of internal storage.
This is the first time that the British Museum has partnered with a smartphone vendor on a co-branded project. The device has been designed with inspiration from Rococo artist Antoine Watteau. The package includes the smartphone, a leather case and a cosmetic brush set. Meitu has launched co-branded smartphones with a range of famous cartoon icons, such as Hello Kitty, Doraemon, Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon. The limited-edition V6 will be available exclusively through China Telecom from May 20th, priced at 6,999 CNY (around $1,100).
