Mediatek hit a new sales high last month, with sales increasing 16.5% sequentially to NT$21.6 billion ($706.6 million), a monthly record. October’s result helped Mediatek to achieve a 62.7% increase in sales for the period from January to October of NT$179.2 billion ($5.8 billion).
The company has also released its third quarter results, posting a net profit of NT$13.3 billion ($435.1 million) on turnover of NT$57.5 billion ($1.9 billion), which compares with a net profit in the third quarter of last year of NT$8.4 billion ($274.8 million) on turnover of NT$39 billion ($1.3 billion). Mediatek said that the 47.3% year on year increase in turnover was mainly due to revenue growth in smartphones and recognition of revenue from MStar. Profit before tax for the first nine months of this year doubled to NT$40.6 billion ($1.3 billion), while turnover increased 63.7% to NT$157.6 billion ($5.1 billion).
