Metro Group has reported its first quarter results, posting a net profit in Q1 of €445 million on turnover of €18.3 billion, which compares with a net profit in the first quarter of last year of €440 million on turnover of €18.7 billion. Online sales in the quarter rose 30% year on year to €0.6 billion. Sales in Germany were 0.1% higher at €7.7 billion, due mainly to positive developments at Media-Saturn. International sales fell 3.8% to €10.6 billion, while in Eastern Europe revenue declined by 12.4% to €4 billion. Media-Saturn contributed €6.9 billion to total turnover in the quarter, up 4.1% from Q1 of last year.
