LG G Flex 2 smartphone

Asian sources have said that three major notebook vendors – Dell, HP and Lenovo – are expected to release models with on-cell touch in the first half of this year. The sources said that 14″ and 15″ products would be released. On-cell was chosen over one-glass-solution, due to higher yields and lower prices.

Last week Honor, a spin-off of Huawei, introduced the Honor Holly – an entry-level Android smartphone. The price has now been set at £60 ($95).

HTC‘s original HTC One smartphone, also known as the One M7, now has access to the Android 5.0 OS.

The G Flex 2, LG‘s second-generation curved smartphone, is now available in the UK, France, Germany, the USA, Hong Kong and Singapore. Availability will be expanded to additional markets in the coming weeks.

The Lumia 532 (dual-SIM edition), from Microsoft (New Price Point Achieved for Lumia Series), is now available in Germany.

The 2015 update to Motorola‘s Moto E entry-level smartphone was spotted on the Best Buy website recently (MDM Product Roundup – Vol 22 No 8), and has now been confirmed as official. Screen size has increased to 4.5″, with the same 960 x 540 resolution, and the old dual-core processor has been upgraded to a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon device. 4G connectivity, a front-facing camera and Android 5.0 are also new features. The phone will be available worldwide for £90 ($140).

Last year’s Kira ultrabook from Toshiba has been upgraded with fifth-generation (Broadwell) Core i7 processors from Intel. Graphics have been boosted to Intel HD 5500 and the battery life extended to 13 hours (1920 x 1080 model) or just under 11 hours (2560 x 1440 model). The other specifications – and, importantly, the price – are identical to the 2014 version, at £1,085 ($1,670).
