March Sees Improved Panel Shipments But Q1 Turnover Down

Following the shortest month, sales of large panels from the four big panel makers bounced back 22.4% MoM and 1.4% YoY to 20.716 million.

AUO saw March revenue of NT$25.55 billion ($874 million), up 12.7% MoM but down 17.7% YoY. This brought turnover for the quarter to NT$74.44 billion ($2.5 billion), down 7.7% QoQ and 15.9% YoY. The company shipped 10.06 million large panels in the month, showing increases of 11.9% MoM and 2.2% YoY. This resulted in quarterly shipments of 28.58 million, down 0.2% QoQ but a rise of 5% YoY.

CPT posted sales of NT$2.18 billion ($75 million) for the month, a rise of 6.2% MoM but a drop of 22.5% YoY. This resulted in revenue for the quarter of NT$6.824 billion ($233 million), down 22.7% QoQ and 24.7% YoY. Large panel shipments were 150,000, up 42.9% MoM and 23% YoY.

Hannstar announced March turnover of NT$1.38 billion ($47 million), up 21.4% MoM but down 33.6% YoY. The firm shipped 286,000 large panels, a jump of 240% MoM and 23.8% YoY.

Innolux reported monthly sales of NT$22.6 billion ($773 million), a rise of 24.9% MoM but falling 28% YoY. Quarterly revenue was NT$66.8 billion ($2.3 billion), down 15.6% QoQ and 22.4% YoY. Large panel shipments numbered 10.22 million in March, up 39.9% MoM but slipping 0.1% YoY. In the quarter, 28.07 million large panels were shipped, a drop of 8.1% QoQ.
