Back a few years ago, around 2020, LG Display was selected by South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy to lead a national project on stretchable displays. The project, conducted in collaboration with 19 institutions, was to explore the commercial potential of these displays. LG introduced a prototype in 2022 with a display that could extend from 12 to 14 inches, maintaining 100ppi resolution.
Now, at Seoul Fashion Week, LG’s the latest stretchable displays are being featured in designs by Korean designers Youn-Hee Park and Chung-Chung Lee. The displays appear on clothing and accessories such as bags and sleeves, with ringing endorsements from the designers as to their possible influence on future designs.
