Earlier this year, we attended the DailyDOOH Media Summit in London. While there, we heard from Kaan Akin – CEO of Sistem 9 Medya, in Turkey – who mentioned a large tender that his company had won with Turkcell (we incorrectly reported this as Turksat at the time – apologies!) (DOOH in Other Regions).
We recently had a chance to talk to Akin about the project. The tender is thought to be the largest of 2015 – around 9,000 screens, which are in the process of being rolled out to more than 1,200 Turkcell stores across the country.
Sistem 9 currently has around 3,000 displays in stock. Screens are being installed to a timeline, with roughly 100 shops being completed every month. The work is on track to be completed in Q1’16.
Turkcell chose LG as the screen supplier. Each display (a mixture of 42″ and 55″ units) has 1920 x 1080 resolution, and are LED-backlit. Some also support touch. Akin said that LG was chosen based on a variety of factors, including the quality of service and price.
