LeTV, the Chinese VoD provider (similar to Netflix), is working with Immersion Corp. to bring ‘a 4D’ experiences to its videos. In cinemas, 4D refers to extra effects such as light, rain and wind. However, LeTV intends to enable the technology on smartphones, via haptics. The touch-based simulations will be enabled in film trailers, and will be rolled out to new Android devices first (iOS does not currently support 4D technology).
