DSCC put out its latest weekly data release that covered investment plans, boosted by LCD projects at BOE, HKC and CSOT. It also confirmed its view and forecast that LCD panel prices have peaked. The article included a chart that I always find useful, the price per m² for different sized panels. This clearly shows how smaller TVs shifted to a premium recently, but have now switched back to around the same price as other sizes.
The blog also included charts of panel price by size and a longer term look at the TV panel price index, showing the influence of the crystal cycle.
What We Think
Since the start of the period shown on the chart, there has been a significant boost in fabs over G8.5 which have changed the costs for larger panels. (BR)
